Self Control

Today I eat the bitter fruits of procrastination that seem to often be escaped. I'm not sure what it is about being a college student, but again and again I use procrastination and excuses to put off responsibilities. Then by some miracle, I find my way into good grades.
It's like a boy jumping off of cliffs. he finds his way into the places without rocks so often that he forgets the rocks exist. then now and again, he lands smack dab in the middle of the rock and nearly kills himself.
Today is a rock day. I have met with the hard parts of procrastination and it smarts. I have danced around the semester squeaking by and settling for lesser grades and studying. Suddenly, I'm faced with a bad grade or two. The hardest part of these lessons is that nobody can be blamed for any of it besides me. I have squandered my time and found that life has knocked me down.
I close with the words of Elizabeth Bennet's father in the 6 hour movie version of Pride and Prejudice. I think it holds water in this situation for sure. "I'm hardily ashamed of myself. Do not worry my dear, it'll pass. And no doubt much sooner than it should."
